The Broome County Humane Society is offering free microchips for dogs for a limited time.
The program is thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation.
Pet owners can schedule an appointment at bchumanesoc.com/services/microchipping.
The funding only covers dogs, but cat owners can still get their pets microchipped for $25 by calling the office at 607-724-3709, ext. 107.
Microchips do not act as a GPS tracker. When a pet is found, shelters and clinics can scan the chip to quickly locate the owner’s contact information.
