Rural King has opened its first New York store at 299 South Main Street in Elmira, marking the farm-and-home retailer’s entry into the state.
The company says grand-opening festivities will run Friday, September 25, through Sunday, September 27. The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce lists a ribbon-cutting ceremony for 10 a.m. Friday, with food trucks scheduled at the site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Rural King says the Elmira location carries products for livestock, pets, birds, automotive needs, power equipment, power tools, grilling, home care and seasonal use. The store also stocks brands including Carhartt, Stihl, Ariat, Wrangler, Black Rifle Coffee Company, Walnut Creek Foods and Henry Rifles.
The Elmira store includes mobile and self-checkout options. The company says customers who enroll in its RK Rewards program at the location during grand-opening weekend will be entered to win one of four $500 Rural King gift cards. Complimentary bottled water will also be available during the celebration.
Rural King describes itself as a family-owned retailer with more than 65 years in business. The company says it also supports youth groups such as 4-H and FFA, along with veterans and first responders through community partnerships.
The new store is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rural King did not announce a local employment total in Monday’s opening release.
