The American Red Cross is asking people of all blood types to donate blood or platelets as hospitals work to maintain a steady supply for patients this fall.
The organization says every donor can make a difference in patient care. Blood products are needed by hospitals on an ongoing basis, and the Red Cross is encouraging eligible donors to make an appointment now rather than waiting for a shortage or emergency appeal.
People who donate between September 21st and October 18th, 2026, can receive a $15 electronic gift card to a merchant of their choice. The Red Cross says details about that offer are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Fall.
A second limited promotion is available at Red Cross blood donation centers through September 30th. Donors who mention the word pickleball to staff or volunteers at a participating center may receive a custom Red Cross pickleball paddle and ball while supplies last.
Donors can search for a nearby blood drive or donation center and review available appointment times at RedCrossBlood.org, through the Red Cross Blood Donor app or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. Appointment availability varies by location.
