While in Watkins Glen for the races over the weekend, Richard Petty along with Smithfield Foods, and Tops, donated 25,000 pounds of protein to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. While representatives say that this meat will provide upwards of 100,000 meals, it’s only expected to last about two weeks. Meat is typically the least donated item at food banks. Richard Petty, Smithfield Foods, and Tops have been making this donation to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier the last five years NASCAR has come to our area for races.
