New York State Police have released the name of the driver killed Sunday in the two car crash that also claimed the life of Chemung County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey Alexander. 77 year old Albert Paganelli of the Town of Ashland, was pronounced dead on the scene after being hit head on by Deputy Alexander’s patrol car. The accident occurred on State Route 427 in the Town of Ashland. A preliminary investigation revealed that Deputy Alexander veered into oncoming traffic and struck Paganelli’s car. Alexander was taken to Arnot Ogden Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
