Bradford County will be receiving over $7 million in revenue from the impact fee on gas drilling in 2014, and close to an additional $12 million collected from the fee will be divvied up among the county’s municipalities. Currently, the county government has not decided how to divide the money or what it will be used for, but some officials say part of the money will be allocated into a capital reserve fund for future needs. Some of the money could also be used for the county’s training center for emergency responders. One issue Bradford County is currently facing is whether or not the county will be instituting a severance tax on gas drilling, and if that tax was imposed, the impact fee would automatically be repealed. Allocations of the impact fee revenue will be distributed to the county and its municipalities by July 1st.
