One person is dead after a canoe accident in the Chemung River on Sunday afternoon. Two people were involved in the incident near Big Flats on Sunday, with the second person being rescued, but at this time their condition is unknown. 58-year-old Donna Bailey was found dead around 7:30 Sunday evening, the same time the canoe was found. Donna’s 32-year-old daughter was the woman who was rescued. The original call for the incident came in around 3:30 for an overturned canoe near the Chemung County Humane Society on State Route 352. The investigation is ongoing.
