For the second time this year, a driver in Wyalusing Township has driven into the Susquehanna River at the end of state route 2025. According to officials, the incidents have taken place after GPS units failed to tell the drivers that the road ended. The latest mistake took place at 11 o’clock Wednesday night. The man driving was traveling at about 25 to 30 miles per hour when he drove into the river. After he escaped the vehicle, he was disoriented and swam to the opposite side of the river, and eventually had to be rescued by area fire department rescue boats. He was taken to Memorial Hospital in Towanda to be treated for possible hypothermia. The last incident, which took place in January, did not result in any injuries. Currently there is no barricade at the end of the road, just a sign stating that the route is ending. Both motorists that drove into the river were not from the area.
