The New York Department of Motor Vehicles has issued a statement to the public to stop taking selfies while driving. The statement comes after over 70,000 images can be found of drivers taking selfies while driving in viral hashtags, such as: #DrivingSelfie and #HopeIDontCrash. Using a handheld mobile device is strictly prohibited while driving, unless an individual is reporting an emergency, or the handheld device is hooked to the car, allowing for hands-free operation.
