The prison worker who is accused of helping prisoners David Sweat and Richard Matt escape from the Clinton Correctional Facility earlier this year has received her sentence. 51-year-old Joyce Mitchell could face between 2 and 1/3 years to 7 years in prison, and must pay a fine of $6,000. Mitchell is also scheduled to appear back in court at a later date as the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office is also seeking $119,000 in restitution. Mitchell plead guilty to promoting prison contraband back in July after she helped smuggle tools out of the tailor shop to the inmates which were then used to escape.
