A fatal car crash took place in Bradford County on Friday afternoon. The accident occurred in Monroe Township, where police say 69-year-old Richard Leighton of Towanda failed to yield while turning left onto Brocktown Road from State Route 220. At that time, Leighton’s vehicle collided head-on with 66-year-old Rosemary Manuel of Dushore. Manuel had to be airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital where she eventually died from her injuries. Leighton was taken to Robert Packer by ambulance to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash. Leighton has been charged with failing to yield, and he could be facing additional charges as the investigation moves forward.
