A two-day competency hearing has begun for a Bradford County man accused of murder. John DeSisti was charged with murdering his cousin, Carol Keefe, and her husband David. The couple was found shot dead in their home in Athens in 2006. DeSisti was arrested in December of 2010. In the hearing Monday, DeSisti’s wife testified in front of the judge regarding her husband’s dementia. After his last competency hearing in January, the judge ruled that DeSisti was in fact able to stand trial. Since then, a new judge has taken over the case and the defense asked him to reconsider the previous ruling, stating that his dementia has become increasingly worse.
