The Bradford county man charged with stabbing his father over a video game last August pled guilty to the crime in court on Tuesday, but received only up to a year’s jail sentence, and may quickly be eligible for parole.
19-year old Robert Uitz Jr. was charged by Sayre police for stabbing his 38-year old father after a heated argument over a video game. The father was wounded in the abdomen and treated at Robert Packer Hospital.
His son faced numerous charges including first degree aggravated assault, harassment, simple assault and charges related to underage drinking. Under an agreement, he pled guilty to a second degree misdemeanor charge of simple assault, and was sentenced to serve one-to-12 months in prison plus a $500 fine.
With credit for 38-days he has already been incarcerated, Uitz is eligible for parole according to his attorney, who added that his father is not seeking restitution and doesn’t want to see his son go to jail.
