There could be a major change coming to high school sports in Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a bill on Wednesday that would allow the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association to separate public and private schools for postseason tournaments.
The House voted by a 178 to 23 margin in favor of the bill which would allow the PIAA to separate boundary and non-boundary schools for the playoffs.
The bill now advances to the State Senate for a vote.
If approved by the State Senate the bill would not mandate the PIAA to change its current format, but would give them the option to do so.
Local state representatives Tina Pickett and Clint Owlett voted in favor of the bill.
