Pennsylvania bill would move hauling permits online

A Pennsylvania Senate committee has advanced legislation that would create an electronic application process for certain hauling permits.

The proposal is intended to replace paper-based steps and make it easier for businesses to submit and track permit requests. Supporters say an online system could reduce processing delays while giving applicants a clearer record of their submissions.

The measure still requires additional consideration in the General Assembly before it could become law. The committee vote does not change current permit requirements.

Businesses should continue following existing Pennsylvania Department of Transportation rules unless and until a final law and implementation schedule take effect.
