US Attorney James Kennedy, Jr. has announced that 54-year-old Kevin Theil of Corning, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison and 10 years supervised release for possession of child pornography. The case was initiated by the Ithaca Police Department in November 2016, when a cooperating witness alerted the IPD to Thiel’s alleged activities. On December 15th, 2016, search warrants were executed at the defendant’s residence in Corning and at Theil’s lake house in Hammondsport, NY. Following the searches, a forensic examination of the defendant’s computer revealed 367 images of child pornography on Theil’s laptop.
