The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested a 54-year-old woman on a bench warrant issued by Elmira City Court.
According to the sheriff’s office, the warrant alleged that Jodi Kent failed to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Deputies took Kent into custody Wednesday. The sheriff’s office says she was issued an appearance ticket directing her to return to court at a later date.
The release did not identify the substance involved in the underlying case or provide additional details about the original charge. No other arrests were announced.
The allegations have not been proven in court. Kent is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
