The Chemung County Legislature is set to vote on an agreement Monday to evaluate and market the county nursing facility, but not to sell it, according to County Executive Tom Santulli. Although the measure calls for the facility to be listed with a real estate agent, Santullli maintains that the county simply wants to get a better idea of what the nursing home is worth on the open market. He said no decision has been made on the facility and the county is still just weighing possible options. The Chemung County Nursing Facility’ is facing a deficit in the neighborhood of $400,000 to $500,000 a year. Santulli said the county is aiming to prevent a situation where property taxes would have to go up in order for the county to maintain the facility. A coalition of those against the county selling the nursing home, including the union representing workers at the nursing facility, were set to deliver petitions to legislators Monday, signed by 3200 county residents opposing a possible sale.
