The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office will be collecting expired and unneeded medications to two drop off locations on April 27. The office is teaming up with the Drug Enforcement Administration for their National Take Back Initiative Program. The program will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the VFW, 113 Keefe Street, in Elmira, and the American Legion, 71 Old Ithaca Road, in Horseheads. Residents can bring any expired or unneeded medications to the locations. From there, they will be properly disposed of. Deputy sheriffs will be at both locations for assistance. Questions about National Take Back Initiative can be answered by the Sheriff’s Office at (607) 737-2987.
