Elmira Police responded to a reported shooting Monday evening. Police were dispatched to the 400 block of West 1st Street around 6:45 Monday. According to police reports, two people were involved in a physical altercation, and they are believed to have known each other. Few other details have been made available. The victim in the shooting, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, and the severity of their injuries is unknown, but not believed to be life-threatening.
