Elmira police are investigating two shootings that happened late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.Officials say they responded to the first shooting on the 300 block of West First Street around 11:50 Wednesday night.When they arrived on the scene they found a 32-year-old man who appeared to have been shot in the hand.He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but is refusing to cooperate with police.Then at 3 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 800 block of Johnson Street for reports of another shooting.At the scene, they found shell casings but no other evidence.It is unclear if the two shootings were connected in any way. If anyone has information about either shooting, they are asked to contact Elmira police at 607-737-5626.
