An Elmira man is now facing a felony charge in connection to a shooting that hospitalized a 17-year-old boy. Elmira Police were called to the 400 block of W. 3rd Street for a report of a large disturbance and a shooting Wednesday night. When officers arrived, the 17-year-old victim was suffering from several gunshot wounds. Authorities have now arrested 51-year-old Jose Rivas of Elmira. He’s been charged with criminal possession of a weapon.An investigation found that the man was in possession of a loaded shotgun and a loaded semi-automatic handgun during the incident.He was arraigned in Elmira City Court and sent to the Chemung County Jail pending further appearances in Chemung County Court. The victim remains in stable condition at an area hospital.
