The Elmira Police Department made an arrest in an alleged hit and run on Monday. Just before 8 o’clock Monday morning, authorities responded to the corner of North Main Street and West Second Street. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection, and according to reports, suffered serious injuries and was treated on the scene by the Elmira Fire Department before being transported to a local hospital. The driver of the car did not stop, and police found and arrested the driver shortly after the incident took place. The investigation is ongoing.
