The Elmira School District has named its next superintendent after the former head of the district left for the Hendrick Hudson School District nearly a year ago. Hillary Austin, the current interim superintendent, was officially appointed as the new district superintendent in a unanimous vote on Wednesday. Austin has been serving in the interim role since former superintendent Joe Hochreiter left the position. She will earn an annual salary of $165,000 and receive a five-year contract.
