The new and former owners of Elmira’s First Arena have settled their arguments in bankruptcy court, but the saga continues. NYSEG is now threatening to shut off electric and gas service to the Arena because of unpaid bills. NYSEG is seeking information about the confidential agreement worked out in a Rochester Bankruptcy court last week. Court filings show that the former owner of the Arena has a past due NYSEG balance of over $100,000. The utility company has threatened to shut off the power unless a repayment plan of over $27,000 a week is put into place. A previous repayment plan of $10,000 a week was already in place, but that plan was contingent on the former Arena owners borrowing money from the Jackals hockey team to meet the payment schedule. The next jackals home game is scheduled for Friday at the First Arena.
