Police have identified the body that was found along a creek in Elmira. On Tuesday, a DEC crew found a female body along Newtown Creek on Elmira’s east side, near East Avenue and Linden Place. The woman has now been identified as 44-year-old Karen Canestaro of Elmira. Authorities have not yet released Canestaro’s cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
