Chemung County leaders are heading back to the drawing board to try and find an owner for the First Arena after a deal to sell the arena fell through this week. The IDA announced yesterday that the potential buyer of the property pulled out of negotiations after Sheriff Christopher Moss held a press conference last week to make allegations of a potential conflict of interest. A pending sale to local car dealer Brian Barrett was announced in March, but now the IDA says the county will be forced to keep possession of the First Arena until a new owner can be found.
