A Bradford County woman was killed in a crash in the Town of Southport Monday. The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office says 60-year-old Mary New of Towanda was riding in a car driven by 53-year-old Douglas Golden. It was struck in the side by an SUV driven by 33-year-old Christopher Slater of Elmira while trying to turn left on Route 328. New was airlifted from the scene to Robert Packer Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Golden and Slater were also transported to the hospital. The Sheriff’s Office says their initial investigation determined that Golden caused the accident by failing to yield the right of way.
