The residents of a Chemung County village were given a scare when a bomb squad came into town on Saturday. State troopers say emergency crews were responding to a car fire at a home on Church Street in the village of Wellsburg when they found a World War II era mortar shell inside. No one was injured during the incident, and while no charges were filed for the mortar shell, an individual was ticketed for trespassing.
