An Elmira man was convicted on a weapons charge connected to a 2025 police chase.
According to the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office, 44-year-old Marcus A. Stroman was found guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, which is a Class D felony.
Following a traffic stop in January of 2025, Stroman ditched a semi-automatic handgun while fleeing from police.
Stroman was found not guilty of possessing a loaded firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of stolen property.
With a prior felony conviction involving a firearm and eight misdemeanor convictions, Stroman will be sentenced as a second felony offender. He could face 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 12th.
