A Horseheads man has pleaded guilty in connection with the death of a three-year-old boy in Chemung County.
According to the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office, 28-year-old Christopher Woods has pleaded guilty to second degree murder midway through jury selection for his trial.
Investigators said that on Sept. 15, 2025, Woods became upset with the boy for crying and picked up the child and slammed him to the floor twice.
Woods put the child to bed and later propped him up on a couch before leaving the Horseheads home. He eventually took the victim to a local hospital, but he was already dead.
Woods faces 18 years to life in state prison as part of the plea deal.
He will be sentenced on Aug. 3.
