Senator Tom Libous’ Bridge and Road Investment and Dedicated Fund Guaranteed Enforcement Reform Act has been approved by the Senate Finance Committee and sent to the Senate Floor.
Libous said the Dedicated Fund exists for bridge and road repair. It’s been raided for years.
The Bridge Act is intended to end the raids for other purposes and spend the Fund on road and bridge repair.
Libous added that nearly three-quarters of the Dedicated Fund is spent on functions that have nothing to do with road and bridge repairs.
This bill phases out the use of the Dedicated Fund for non-road and bridge expenses and prohibits it from being used that way in the future.
