The former J.C. Penney Building at the corner of Hawley and Court Streets in Downtown Binghamton will be receiving a $3.5 Million facelift. The building was purchased by Ellis Brother Furniture in the fall of 2014 after their former showroom burned down in April of the same year. The money will be used to turn the former department store into a modern furniture showroom, as well as make upgrades to the exterior of the building. Ellis Brothers Furniture is looking to have their new facility on Hawley Street open by the end of 2016.
