A team of Candor students won this year’s Southern Tier Regional Envirothon competition. With the win, they will advance to the statewide competition on May 24-25 at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The Candor 400’s were judged to the best out of 27 teams at the regional competition, which was hosted by the Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District on April 27. Students were tested on a variety of subjects, including Ecology, Forestry, Soils and Land Use, Wildlife, and Current Issues. There were seven teams from Tioga County and 20 from Broome, Chemung, Tompkins, and Schuyler County at this year’s competition.
