The Cortlandville Walmart is evacuated and closed for nearly seven hours after a bomb threat. The call came in just before 3 p.m. Saturday. The Cortland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Wal-Mart on Bennie Road and Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville. According to the sheriff’s department, store management had received calls that an unknown person had placed a bomb on the store’s property. The store was immediately evacuated by Wal-Mart management. The Broome County Sheriff’s Department assisted by sending a K-9 trained in bomb detection, and the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department sent their bomb squad to the scene. The store was reopened at 10 p.m.. Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the threat. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to call the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department at (607) 753-3311.
