Election day was yesterday, and the results of voting are in. Fred Akshar won the vote to become state senator for the 52nd district of New York. He won by a landslide, receiving over 41,000 votes, while his competitor, Barbara Fiala, received less than 12,000 votes. Andrea Klett won the race for Tioga County Clerk. In Broome County, Kevin Dooley won the race for Broome County Court Judge. The race for Broome County District Attorney is currently too close to call, with only 587 regular votes separating Stephen Cornwell and Gerald Mollen. Stephen Cornwell is currently believed to be in the lead, however, 1800 absentee ballots still need to be counted to make a final determination.
