Authorities in Elmira and Athens Township believe they may be looking for the same suspect in cases of armed robbery. Elmira Police say that they responded to a report of an armed robbery just before 12:45AM yesterday morning at the Sunoco gas station located at the intersection of North Main and West Second Streets in Elmira.
Authorities in Athens Township were called to the scene of an attempted robbery at around 3am at the Xtra Mart on Elmira Street in Athens.
Both incidents had similar circumstances. The suspect is described as a 5’3″ male with light colored hair. He was last seen wearing baggy jeans and a baggy black hoodie. He also was wearing glasses and a black winter hat. The suspect brandished a black handgun, and was driving in an SUV. Members of the Elmira Police Department travelled to the Athens Township Police Department yesterday to compare notes.
