A fire in Tompkins County on Tuesday proves to be fatal. Multiple fire departments responded to assist with a fire along Mill Street in Freeville. During the investigation following the fire, human remains were discovered at the scene. The victim is believed to be the homeowner. Police are not releasing names at this time. An autopsy has been scheduled and the investigation is ongoing. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office says it does not believe the fire is suspicious in nature.
