Some changes to the New York SAFE Act are being hailed by local gun shop owners. Originally the act prohibited the sale of 10 round magazines, but recently the New York Budget Bill suspended this provision, allowing the magazines to continue to be sold, but also requiring no more than seven rounds to be loaded into them. This will allow manufacturers to continue sending firearms New York. Gun stores say that with the restriction manufacturers will just ignore the state of New York, and ship guns to other states. And, gun store owners say, if that happens many store owners would be forced to move out of state to do business. Under the new provision, loading more than seven rounds into the magazines is illegal.
