The Ithaca Police Department investigated a shooting just hours later on Chestnut Street in Ithaca. Around 1:30 early Saturday morning, two people were driving on Chestnut Street when a person shot at them as they passed, got into a car and chased the victims, continuing to shoot at them as they drove westbound through the city. According to the victims, the man chased them until they ultimately crashed their vehicle on the 700 block of Elm Street Extension, at which point the shooter fled the scene in his car. No injuries were reported in either the shooting or the crash, and Ithaca Police are now searching for the shooter, but descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle are being withheld at this time as the investigation continues.
