Ithaca Police officers saved a young woman’s life on Wednesday when they rescued her as she hung from the railing of the top floor of a parking garage. Shortly before 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, police responded to a call of a woman climbing over the railing on the seventh floor of the Cayuga Street Parking Garage. Officers rushed to the scene to find the 17-year-old girl dangling over the edge of the garage, about 90 to 100 feet in the air, according to reports. Multiple officers raced to the top level and secured the woman’s arms and legs before pulling her to safety. She was transported to Cayuga Medical Center for a mental health evaluation because the initial reports were that the woman was possibly attempting to commit suicide.
