A small plane crashed at the end of a runway at the Cortland County Airport on Sunday, but emergency responders say the pilot was able to escape the crash safely. The crash happened just before 3:30 Sunday afternoon. The pilot, a 55-year-old man whose name has not been released, was the only person in the plane. Deputies say he got out of the single engine plane before the emergency crews arrived. He was taken to the Cortland Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. After an investigation at the scene, the plane was moved to a secure location. Deputies say the Federal Aviation Administration have taken over the investigation of the crash.
