New York legislators are closing in on a deal to extend sales tax measures for county governments for three years and mayoral control of New York City schools for two years during an extraordinary session called by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Besides the legislation, lawmakers are also considering $55 million in flood relief at Lake Ontario and a measure to rename the Tappan Zee Bridge after Mario Cuomo, the late governor and father of the current governor.
