As the season switches to spring time, construction season is set to pick back up, with extensive work expected to continue at Prospect Mountain. Over 70,000 drivers travel through the Interstate 81-17 interchange daily, and the New York State Department of Transportation said commuters can expect a difference in their drive early in the season, with one of the biggest changes being the switch from the 17 eastbound ramp to the new 17 east bridge. Once drivers are on the new roadway, the DOT will begin demolishing the existing 17 eastbound and westbound roads. Paving work along Route 434 is also expected to take place this summer. The DOT will be paving 434 from the Tioga County line to the City of Binghamton, with the work expected to take place at night.
