Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell has announced a plan to relaunch the county’s School Resource Officer program. School resource officers ensure safety and security in school buildings. Many school resource officer positions were eliminated in school districts following the 2009 State Budget Crisis. The resource officer salaries would be paid in full by the school districts themselves. The Windsor and Whitney Point School Districts already expressed interest in bringing resource officers back on board.
