U.S. Senator Charles Schumer was in Watkins Glen Monday to discuss cutting the excise tax on small breweries to help them grow their businesses. Schumer discussed the Small BREW Act of 2013, legislation that will cut the excise tax on small breweries in half, from $7 to $3.50 per barrel for the first 60,000 barrels they brew each year. The legislation could save small breweries thousands of dollars in tax costs each year.
