While more engineering analysis needs to take place, there is a hope that the building that had a tractor-trailer crash into it in Ithaca on Friday could be saved. Currently, work is being done to stabilize the building on the side facing The Commons, and a temporary wall is also being built to keep out any unauthorized passersby. There is a chance that after more debris is removed that significant damage could be discovered, which could determine whether or not the building can be saved. The 100 block of Aurora Street will remain closed to give contractors room to remove debris and analyze the building’s Aurora Street wall.
