Three medical helicopters were called to a deadly head-on collision on Route 13 in Tompkins County on Sunday. Around 4:30 in the afternoon, the call came for multiple injuries to occupants of both vehicles involved in a crash in the Town of Dryden. By 5 o’clock, all occupants had been extricated from the vehicles. According to emergency reports, there was one fatality, but at this time names have not been released. Sections of Route 13 had to be closed following the crash. Landing zones were set up near the scene for the three helicopters, and a fourth helicopter was requested before being recalled. All three helicopters plus an ambulance went to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
