Former senator Tom Libous was sentenced in Federal Court yesterday, after being convicted of lying to the FBI earlier this year. Libous was sentenced to six months house arrest, two years probation, and received a fine of $50,000. Libous’ defense had pleaded with federal judge Vincent Briccetti to show mercy in sentencing as Libous’ health continues to decline as a result of his fight with cancer. With a charge of lying to the FBI, Libous could have seen significant jail time.
