The latest changes and updated plans for the casino in Tyre, New York reportedly left a group of town residents unimpressed. The Lago Resort & Casino would be a $425 million project, $75 million more than originally planned for the project. A coalition, named Casino Free Tyre, still has voiced their concerns over what a casino would mean to the small community, including the influx of thousands of cars to the town daily. While the Wilmot group did eventually win the official approval of the town for the casino proposal, the Wilmorite company had to agree to pay the town $100,000 each year from 2016 through 2021, part of which will go toward preservation of Tyre’s agricultural land.
